Tips & Tricks

Frozen meat placed on a Wilton Armetale® plate or tray in the refrigerator will thaw very quickly thanks to the thermal properties of the metal.

Cooking or heating food in their serving bowl or casserole makes entertaining easy and clean-up a snap. And because of the heat conducting qualities of Armetale® metal, the tray will retain its heat throughout the metal. Be careful to use plenty of potholders.

Can you cook in ARMETALE® products?

Yes. ARMETALE® products are specifically developed to cook and serve food and can withstand temperatures up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Our products retain heat very well and will remain hot for an extended period of time. As with any metal, food should not be stored in it for a sustained length of time.

We recommend that before using your piece, you spray it with a cooking spray or coat it with cooking oil. This will protect it from possible discoloration when using dairy, acidic, or salty foods.

How can I use my ARMETALE® products to keep foods cold?

You can place your ARMETALE® pieces in the freezer or refrigerator, or run them under cold water for a few minutes to chill them. When you serve your food on your ARMETALE® pieces, the food will remain chilled for an extended length of time.

Can antiqued pieces be used in the oven?

Yes. Antiqued pieces, which have a black or colored paint applied to highlight the design, may be used for serving food, as well as for warming purposes. Due to the special artistic design of these pieces, we recommend warming them at no higher than 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Wilton Armetale, in keeping with our high environmental standards, uses the safest paints available in the finishing process of our antiqued pieces. Antiqued pieces should not be used under the broiler. All pieces with antiquing on the cooking surface should not be used in the oven. These items can be used only for the serving of food.
